nolanlabs

AI for post-production · VFX

The VFX work after the shoot. Handed off to AI.

nolanlabs paints out rigs, builds worlds, moves the sun, swaps props, fills battlefields and fixes performances — then hands every layer back to your comp. You make the creative calls.

Finished shot: the same three actors come down the same steps, which now lead down from an ancient city carved into the cliffs above a sea of clouds.
Plate: on an outdoor backlot at dawn, three actors in heavy wool cloaks come down a built set of stone steps in front of green screens, with a boom operator, a wind machine and lights in frame.

Six use cases

Six kinds of shot work. One scene each.

Every frame below is a finished shot. Hold the button to see the plate it started from, then open the use case to try it.

Clean plate: the same climb with the safety rope, the technician, the markers and the rope bag painted out.
Plate: a climber hangs from a wet sea cliff above the surf, an orange safety rope running down to her, a rope-access technician beside her, tape markers on the rock and a rope bag below.

What you get back

Every job comes back as layers. Not a baked video.

The matte of what the job touched, the new pixels, the comp and your untouched plate. Ready for Nuke, After Effects or Resolve.

  1. 01

Only what you ask for changes.

Everything outside the edit region stays as shot. Whole-frame jobs like relighting say so before the run.

  2. 02

    You choose the version.

AI proposes; people decide. Nothing goes to a timeline or a client until someone picks it.

  3. 03

    Your footage stays yours.

Never used to train AI models, ours or anyone else’s. Deleted when you ask.

  4. 04

    Faces only with consent.

Performance work runs only when the performers agreed in writing to that use.

How it works

Mark it, describe it, choose the version.

  1. 01

    Send the shot

The clip or a frame range, at its own resolution and frame rate. On a demo, the team runs it with you.

  2. 02

    Mark and describe

Click or box what the job touches and say what should happen, in the words you’d use with an artist.

  3. 03

    Choose, and keep working

Versions come back side by side. Pick one; take the comp and every layer into your compositor.

From our manifesto

AI can simulate the result of a creative process. But creativity lives in the intent, the point of view and the decisions that lead there.

Questions

Straight answers.

What does nolanlabs do?

nolanlabs is AI for post-production VFX shot work in six use cases: cleanup, environment, relighting, object editing, crowd and scale, and performance assist. You mark and describe the job, the AI does the frame-by-frame work, and you choose the result. It comes back as layers you can keep working on.

How do I get access?

By invitation, after a demo. There is no public sign-up: request a demo, bring a shot if you like, and we set up access with the teams we work with.

What happens in a demo?

A conversation of about 30 minutes with the people who make nolanlabs. We learn how you work and show what nolanlabs does, and what it doesn’t. If it helps, we try one of your shots. There is no cost and no commitment.

Does nolanlabs replace VFX artists?

No. It takes on the frame-by-frame part of the work so artists spend their time on how the shot should look. Every result is reviewed and chosen by a person, and it comes back as layers an artist can refine, not a finished shot to accept or reject.

Does it re-render my whole shot?

Only when the job is the whole frame. Cleanup, object editing, environment, crowd and performance work change only the edit region and composite it back onto your plate, so everything else stays as shot. Relighting and weather change light across the frame; we say so before the run, and the performance, framing and timing stay.

How do you handle faces and performers?

Only with consent. Eyeline, lip-sync and stunt-double face replacement run only for productions that confirm in writing that each performer whose face or lips change agreed to that use. We don’t clone voices, create synthetic performers or generate performances from nothing.

Is my footage used to train AI models?

No. Footage you share with nolanlabs is never used to train models, ours or anyone else’s. We only process it with AI providers whose terms let us guarantee that. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Who can log in?

Only teams we have invited. If an email isn’t on the invite list yet, the login page says so. The address you type is only checked, never stored.

How much does nolanlabs cost?

Pricing is set with each team, after a demo. There is no public price list.

Bring the shot you’d rather not do by hand.

Access to nolanlabs is by invitation. It starts with a 30-minute demo — on your own footage if you like.
